Hi, I'm getting nowhere with the event coordinator as usual for a gig at the Hilton in Emeryville CA. The one that looks out at the Bay Bridge. Need to work out power requirements and what plugs they have for my 50A single phase distro.
Wondering if any of the Bay Area folks know somebody there who understands what we're trying to do. Thanks all.
Edit to add that the front desk forwared me to someone in their maintenance dept, but I'm still waiting for a call back.

Does anyone know who in Vegas has EV XLC other than Soundart?
We were at Freemont street and there was a stage there that Sugarland was playing on. Radian/Rat Microwedges.
Never saw consoles or anyother cases for that matter.
Anyone know who it was?

Here's a link to a few shots a the wedding gig I did this weekend. Little did I know when I took the gig I'd be meeting Jim Fowler from the Wild Kingdom TV show. He has a 300 acre ranch west of Albany Ga. Very cool event. They were using helicopters as taxi's to and from the airport...

Now that I have recovered from seeing the photos of the dead bird on the Cat blog I thought it time to post the truly intelligent creatures of the animal world. The Bird.

I frequent quite a few forums on all kinds of subjects. Needless to say, I like subscribing to certain threads of special interest.
On one particular forum, they've modified their 'topic reply' notification so that you only receive ONE e'mail. This is a pretty nice feature, especially if a topic gets fairly heated while you're away.
It helps keep my inbox a bit cleaner, and easier to navigate.
Not sure how they do it though. I think they must have some sort of cookie or system built into the site that recognizes whether or not you've visited the subscribed thread, since the last e'mail notification was sent.
So, lets say I subscribe to a topic. Four replies are made, but I get sent one e'mail. When I click the link in the e'mail, which takes me directly to the topic, the forum 'resets' the configuration, and I will receive another e'mail when more replies are made.
Make sense?
Hope you like it, and implement it!

Just a heads up to anyone in and around the big D this weekend. Josh Millward and myself will be out there running one of the stages. Come by and say hey if you're in the neighborhood.

We went to the San Jose Improv this weekend to see Pablo Francisco. Big props to whoever set up the sound in there. I could see the silhouettes of a couple of centered traps over the stage and could hear something on the sides but they were all behind drapery. Very balanced and great intelligibility. Sounded like someone had the pattern control worked out and kept off the walls.
Massive amounts of headroom. Like Michael Windslow in an earlier thread, Fransisco cups the mic and makes all kinds of strange sounds. Nothing broke up at all, regardless of what he was doing. I couldn't hear any limiting or compression. At one point he made some whistling noises and it was excruciatingly loud, but not limited, and not peaky sounding. That one stunt might have benefited from a bit of compression as about half the audience was holding their ears, but all the other explosion noises and such meant to make the audience jump, had their intended effect.
I don't know what they have in there, but this was one example of doing it right. Kudos to the installer and the folks running it.

Ive got a dell E1705..Great laptop..
Looking for the best sound card for music playback..
This one doesn't have a PCMCIA slot or I would use an audigy 2 ZS Notebook, and I have heard about big issues with the X fi express card's on dell notebook's
Its got usb 2 and Firewire, I could do that
What are the best ideas for under $200? Im just looking for the highest quality Playback possible, not recording or anything.
Would be great for live sound and Theater work where I have to play back tracks at the highest quality possible.
Thanks
Pat
