Hello,
I'm working in a building (in Bangalore, India), about 2200 square feet. The acoustics through most of the range are quite nice and smooth, just the right amount of diffusion and absorption for most music/speech (It's a church).
Now that we've added drums, having a big boom (in the room, not the system) and resonance between about 250 and 400.
My thought (although I'm not trained in acoustics) is this: along one entire wall (stage side) at the floor level are three 'chambers', 18" deep x 18" high and 10' wide. Looks like they were building storage space into the walls. They are recessed nooks, all concrete (the whole building is concrete).
Is it realistic to transform these 'nooks' into bass traps? How do I calculate what the effective frequency range would be for them, and how would you recommend the construction?
In my previous life (consultant/system design) we had an on-staff acoustics guy who dealt w/these problems. Now, as a missionary, we don't usually keep those kind of guys on staff, and the budget to hire one is, understandably, non-existent.
Thanks in advance,
Jonathan Heimberg

I have a Bogen MCP35 at a local school that was running extremely hot, you could not keep your hand on the heat sink hot. Disconnected all speaker lines same thing. The unit still works in the system only there is modulation/oscillation to the audio. I brought it back to the shop to check closer, none of the outputs are shorted. When you power it up you can here the oscillation in the windings of the power transformer and you can see it with a scope when looking at the power supply + and - 26 volt rails. the supply is clean when disconnected from the board. Bogen support only says to send it in for repair at their $350 flat rate fee.
Anyone ever ran into one doing the same thing.
Thanks

Does anyone have any experience with this? I have 3 Samsung LCD 320p i need to link. I can do it internally on the sets, but i would like to set up the mcd software that comes with the sets. The confusion comes with the 2-Male RS232 ports that are both the in and out. I have gotten 1 LCD to connect using a null modem cable, but cannot seem to get them linked or find any info on this. Am i supposed to use a null modem cable between the lcd's to link them? or just a normal serial cable with a turn around? Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hello!
Could anyone give me a few UK (possibly Euro) suppliers for a nice (custom?) desk for a Digidesign C24 please?
I'm after something with rack space for interfaces etc., LCD monitor/speaker shelves above, somewhere to write and somewhere to stick a keyboard and mouse!
Thanks very much
Adam

Hello-
Wondering if anybody has experience with these, and if they live up to their specs? Any guess how the 215 would stand up next to the Danley TH-112?
Thanks,
Grant

I have a situation where 3 Shure SCM810's are available as preamps for a 24 track recording session.
The auto features are turned off and the mods have been made for direct outs to be post fader/pre EQ ( I think).
Anyone know how clean of a preamp these units have? Its for a series of live recording sessions and at the moment the best we have for that many preamps. FOH board is a GL2200. Usual acts get lots of gating and comps. we want to take a passive split and feed the SCM810's
Thanks

As pulling wires through the house at the particular install I am involved with seems to be more headache, expense for the customer and hassle to get done I have suggested a wireless system in which I can simpy put a small amplifier in the room right behind the wall where the speakers will be mounted.
I need a wireless system that will be good quality and make it through the house without getting a crappy signal. I stumbled on a company called leapfrog who makes a combo system for under $150. Being from the pro audio world, a price tag of $150 makes me think that this thing will be lucky enough to broadcast a clearl signal to the next room, let alone the other side of the house, up one floor, and through 6 rooms (despite the specs).
That one is here : http://www.smarthome.com/7656l.html
Then, I have located another unit which appears to be robust in build quality and options for antennas. It costs about $400 and is from "appliedwireless". That one is here :
http://applied-wireless.com/pdf/AT900-32.pdf
My question is this.....Has anyone used either of these two or know about them AND does anyone have any suggestions for wireless systems that are from a company that is well trusted and/or industry stantard, long history, etc...?
I'm so used to commercial A/V and concert equipment and I have not researched consumer/prosumer home theatre items. I don't want to suggest anything to this client that is overkill but I don't want to get something cheap that ends up with crappy quality.
Lastly, as for a receiver or amplifier on the remote end to power the speakers, any suggestions of a manufacturer that makes low priced small profile units that many use in home theatre installs. I need about 200 watts per channel at 8 ohms.
thanks a billion,
jeff

Does anyone have any experience with these speakers:
http://www.acclaim-music.com/live/customer/product.php?produ ctid=372&cat=69&page=1
I can get the 8 I need for my bar at $215 CDN each, which will save me money from the EV ZX1's I had planned on using. The other option, as always, are the JBL controls but the EV adn Machs are in white which is preferred.
They are being used for side fill and around the bar, more for coverage than volume.
Thanks,
Marlow

It’s been so long since I’ve designed any exhibits that the people detector (to start an exhibit) was a Tapeswitch pressure mat. But we have a couple coming up and I looking for some info. I assume that PIR or microwave detectors are what’s used now. Just looking for some recommendations and guidance. Horror stories will be appreciated too.
I’m more up to speed on touch screens but I’ve pretty much done 40-50” ones with third party (Smart, etc.) overlays.
Here I’m looking for 19” integrated Touch LCDs. Pretty easy to Goggle up some sources but if anyone has some suggestions they’d be more than welcome.
TIA
Don
