Hello everyone
I'm currently conducting research for my university dissertation and would be very grateful if any of you industry pro’s out there would take a moment to answer these questions.
Questions:
What recent technological advancement has had the biggest impact on your work?
What advantages/disadvantages has this brought to you?
How has the development of any recent technology enabled you to become more creative with you work?
Has the development of any recent technology strengthened your link with the performing artist?
Many Thanks
Jason Brandt

Class location:
Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences
1205 N. Fiesta Blvd.
Gilbert, AZ 85233
http://tinyurl.com/2zmnn9
Here are hotels, from Expedia, near the training site:

Ride sharing from your hotel is recommended. Chip and I have not yet booked airfare or hotel, but we will be staying in Gilbert near the Live Sound Lab at CRAS.
Here is some info about the Live Sound Lab:
http://www.cras.org/live-sound.htm
Fly into Phoenix (PHX). A cheap and easy way to get to your hotel is Super Shuttle.

Class normally runs from about 9:00 AM on Thursday until sometime in the evening, possibly 7:30 PM or a bit later. Meals on Thursday will be lunch and dinner, included in your registration fee.
Friday class will probably run until close to 9:00 PM, with lunch and dinner again included.
Saturday will begin to wind down around 2:00 PM with people leaving for flights. In any event we will conclude class by 3:00 PM on Saturday.
Please post any questions here.
Thanks!

Fellow hum heads,
I fly in at 7pm. I'll be staying at ESA as well. ESA says there is a shuttle called super shuttle that will take you to EAS for a flat $15. I'd be up for sharing expenses for a ride over there as well if anybody is willing.

June 7,8, and 9 at CRAS.
www.cras.org
DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS YET - there will be an "official" announcement with payment options.
Class will be held at the Gilbert, AZ location. There are a few details to be worked out re: schedule, but it looks pretty good at this point.
I'm not sure about SMAART 101 yet. Hopefully this can be done on Wednesday, June 6 the day before the FOH class starts.
Price for the FOH class is $695. SMAART 101 will be $195, if it is taught. We hope to have this worked out soon.
For the SMAART class, lunch is included and the class should be over in the late afternoon. For the FOH class, lunch and dinner will be catered in. Expect to be in class until around 9:00 PM. These are long days with more information than you will be able to consume.
When it is "official", there will be a registration form availble both on the web site and as an attachment here. Payment will be checks or PayPal.
Thanks for your patience, the official announcement is forthcoming.

Note to self: never, ever use Brick Networks in St. Louis for any reason whatsoever.
There is no real news on the web site, just a reflection of what has been discussed here.
I'm scratching the mailing list, although I will attempt to mail everyone on it. Hopefully Gmail will let me email more than fifty people at a time - SBC Yahoo will not (I must be a spammer, don't you know......)
We'll be using this forum for class news and updates.
Thanks to everyone for your interest.
BTW: payment this time around will be via PayPal. You can use your credit card as always, but the transaction will be handled by PayPay. We're still not sure what the cost will be, but it will probably be about the same as in the past.
Smaart 101 will be an additional cost, and we will do the Smaart class BEFORE the FOH Engineer class so those of you not completely up to speed on Smaart will have a clue, if you choose to take the class. It's important to understand a few simple concepts in order to get the most from the FOH Engineer class. You'll be OK without it, but you will be much better off with it.
FYI....

Gentlemen and Ladies;
We're at that point!
I'm on the way up to Sacramento tomorrow -- July 7th -- and will be
finalizing the class site, as well as negotiating rates with the hotel
(probably Extended Stay America). The more people staying, the better the
rates will be.
This email's going out as a reminder to all those who have REALLY been
wanting a class like this... So now the time is here.
Again:
August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) - ADVANCED EASE
DRAWING:
A detailed 3 day class on ALL of the drawing tools and their uses. This
will include hot keys and methodology of breaking down an actual room.
Friday we will do a real time experiment. We are going to have a low
resolution model of the church where the classes are being held, and a high
resolution model of the same church in EASE. Afterwards we will run the
same AURA calculations on both models and then measure the actual church
using the same seats as the simulations, comparing the results. PRICE IS:
($700.00US)
July 31st and August 1st (Monday and Tuesday) - EASE INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOPS:
This can include learning the program for beginners, or the USE of AURA and
ISO3382, or raytracing and mapping functions. The only thing NOT covered
here will be ANY drawing functions. This can also be used as refresher!
PRICE IS: ($100.00US per day)
I will need a FINAL list of attendees and dates by the end of next week --
July 14th -- with down payments of ($300.00US) by July 21st. Balances are
due no later than Tuesday, July 25th.
NOTE: Beginning July 8th, I will not be in Los Angeles. If you are
planning to MAIL payment, then send it to my Tacoma address:
NWAA
6824 19th St W, #314
Tacoma, WA 98466
We'll be leaving Tacoma for Sacramento Wednesday, July 26th. PLEASE HAVE
ALL PAYMENTS IN BY THAT DATE.
Just so you know, regarding payments -- We do take American Express!
This should be an great class (particularly Friday) -- and well worth
waiting for!
Looking forward to seeing you all there --

Just a quick note to say thanks to all involved with the April 9 - 11 "Complete FOH Mixer" class held at the CRAS in Phoenix/Tempe. I have been in live audio and live production for almost 15 years now and have recently felt my career had become stagnant and finding out about this seminar came at an absolutely perfect time for me. It opened up a lot of doors to new & different ideas and concepts in live sound. It's the ideal way to lift you out of the "same old" routine one would be stuck with in sound and give a new and fresh approach to how you would mix on/adjust systems.
It has also indirectly resulted in an employment possibility in the area and I know that the fact that I had come out to Phoenix all the way from Maine at my own expense to do this had weighed in my favour with the company I had interviewed with.
Thanks Again!
Todd E.
