My fiance is most likely taking a new job in the Santa Monica/Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles.
I am currently working for an NFL team as the stadium audio engineer. I have a few years experience prior to this gig in the corporate world as an audio/lighting/video engineer and I also have a couple years of project management experience. I feel I have strong resume considering my age and time in the field, and have proven I have the attitude and work ethic to survive in the business.
I plan on converting to freelance if we move. I don't know much about working for a union as I am coming from a right-to-work state.
I would very much like to set myself up to be able to work in the California, Nevada, and Arizona area.
If anybody here has some advice or insight to share, I would be very appreciative.
Thanks,
Shane

Seems The Quireboys will come to play at a club I'm house tech at. Have not been told if they have their own engineer and only need a system tech or if they want a venue tech to mix.
At any rate. Some info is appreciated if you have it - even if they just came by "your" club.
Feel free to PM if you want to keep it "under the radar"
Best regards

I know this is not a forum for djs but this is one of the few places I can go to to learn about high end audio....Right now my rig consists of EAW JFX 560's and EAW SB 250's...I run them on a Crown I-tech 4000 and Crown I-Tech 6000...I play primarily dance/club music and while the system sounds great, it does not give me the nightclub sound that I am looking for at certain venues...I am now selling the I-techs and looking into the Lab Gruppen FP 6400's for starters...What speakers would be a good fit for what I do?? I am trying to keep it relatively lightweight...The EAW SB 250's are around 130lbs a piece and take its toll after a 3 event weekend...I would like to be able to pole mount the tops and probably want to go with a single 18 for the subs...Any help is appreciated...Thanks

just wondering if any of you knew who the provider was for this event? It was the afterparty show for the Best Buddies fundraiser ride. Nice little vertex rig. I didn't get to catch much of the show but what I did hear was pretty sharp. Pretty damn bass heavy though.

I did sound for this band a few months ago.
http://www.myspace.com/396933059
These songs off their site were a direct board mix two track I gave them for fun.
I had three foh feeds. One was a stereo wide mix to two L/R speakers. One went to two far L/R speakers and a center speaker Aux fed. Third to aux fed subs. This was an outside on a trailer
type outside street dance kind of gig.
The mix sounds weak in the vocals/upright bass in some parts as I used the Aux mono for more vocal fill as well as for more of the upright bass. Of course you can hear the players move in and out from the mics but overall you can make most of it out.I liked Steel Rails and Left over Biscuits and How Blue when they and myself got things together.
Here its is my mistakes and theirs. Just putting some Northern Maine music out for fun.
Should you like them as a "playing just for fun" kind of band leave them a cudo. I'm sure they would love it.
Thanks

Bill Melendez, partner in production with Charles Shultz, passed away today at 91. Equally admirable, he was married for 68 years to his wife.
Bill provided the voices for Snoopy and Woodstock in the animated specials done with Shultz.

Any one know who is providing for the Gipsy Kings. I saw on a case something like PSI Denver or something like that but a search didn't find anything. I caught their show the other day, I thought it was very good. I didn't understand a damned thing they said but at least the vocals were loud and clear. If only they had a few more guitars Oh wait during an encore they brought out two other guys with guitars. Over all they were a good solid band and put on a good show. Sound was very nice where I was, a little down wind of center (light cross breeze) and pretty close up. 6 V-Dosc 3 DV-Dosc 4 sb28's per side. Main vocals had 115xt Hiq's with a pair of Arcs a side for side fills. Console looked to be a Digidesign D-Show.

After doing some research on other forums for a different project, this is by far the best forum on the internet.
