OK, I found a great deal on a Sennheiser ew172 g2 instrument wireless system, and it comes with an extra headset mic.
I already have a wireless headset system so I don't really need another one, but my son plays drums and could use a headset mic, which of course will not need to be wireless.
Can these mics be adapted to be hard-wired to a mixing board input, without using Sennheiser's MZA900-P? I had sent an email to Sennheiser USA support and received the following reply regarding the MZA900P:
"This adapter regulates the phantom power the mic needs down to an acceptable level so there is no damage to the mic element."
Is this adapter a requirement, or a recommendation? If it's required, I'd be better off selling the extra headset mic and buying some other headset mic rather than spending the $130+ (!!!) or so for the MZA900P.
Has anyone run these mics with a simple adapter instead of this expensive one for any length of time, or is it a bad idea?

Hi All,
I just bought a new sound system for my 7-piece rock band (guitar, bass, drums, female vocals, trumpet, sax, trombone)for smaller venues consisting of: Allen and Heath MixWizard 16:2, a pair of Yorkville NX55Ps, 1 Yorkville LS720P, and a dual 31 band graphic EQ. This is very simple but I really love the sound of this system.
Getting to the point... When I purchased this system, the guy I was dealing with suggested I turn the speakers up to 1/2 and the sub just a little past 1/2. Then, run the board at unity gain. Then, the guy that ran sound for me last weekend said to turn the speakers and sub up ALL THE WAY and run everything else lower...something about more headroom.
Which way is better and why? Obviously, I'm a newbie.
Thanks,
Amy

We are getting a wireless mic system for our church main sanctuary
We are trying to invest in a sennheiser ew335g2 with a countryman e6iow5t1sr
Now would these two combination work well? and also how do i exactly use the countryman - or what kind of transmitter would i use for the countryman mic.

Has anyone heard of or used the VORAX 518 sub?
I'm guessing it's a horn. There are a few floating around here.

It a pears the NBC has upgraded from the 1000 series to the 1100 series. Even though they are just using it as a dummy come on at least use something a little more believable!!

Hi All,
I have a sick EV Zx5. The low end is completely dropping out intermittently and sounding generally distorted anyway. It has been in for a repair due to low end distortion recently. It came back "fixed". The problem apparently being some of the glue around the 15" driver had come away and the fix was reglueing it. Im thinking either the driver or the crossover is faulty or damaged. Anyone had similar problems to this?
I have only read very positive posts on this forum about the Zx5.
cheers, Pip

I've read many of the posts about the value of a stereo mix for IEMs over mono. I was wondering what you thought of a mixed approach advocated by Hear Technologies. In this case there is one stereo mix shared by everyone, (the FOH mix essentially), and up to 6 additional mono mixes. The mono mixes can be blended into the stereo mix the the listeners taste. (In the HT mixer, the 6 mono mixes can be ganged for a mix of mono and stereo additional mixes.) What do you think of this approach? How would it compare to true individual stereo mixes?

Nothing Better To Do |

I've started getting gigs where I have headroom
Until a few weeks ago, to get enough volume for the bands/promoters, I've had run my desk with everything one light below the red, because the funds weren't there on the promoter's behalf to get enough rig for the gig.
But I've just been booked for a few months worth of gigs with a theatre company where they are making lots of money and doing venues with enough PA, or hiring it in.
I can run the desk in the green with enough headroom for the screams and loud bits without resorting to heavy limiting, and there is a new found dynamic to the sound.
I'll need to make as much use of this freedom as I can.

Hello All,
Been doing a little research on the LAB and wanted to know who has McCauley SM72 loudspeakers and am using them as wedges? How are they performing. I looked into the wedge shootout a from a couple years back and they seemed to perform favorably but would like to hear from some people that use them day in day out as wedges. It also seems that these boxes would be a nice addition as multipurpose boxes due to their switchable biamp/passive operation as well as pole mount. Also, does anyone know retail and street of these boxes? I look forward to hearing from you guys.
Thanks
Hal Harrison
