It a pears the NBC has upgraded from the 1000 series to the 1100 series. Even though they are just using it as a dummy come on at least use something a little more believable!!

Hi All,
I have a sick EV Zx5. The low end is completely dropping out intermittently and sounding generally distorted anyway. It has been in for a repair due to low end distortion recently. It came back "fixed". The problem apparently being some of the glue around the 15" driver had come away and the fix was reglueing it. Im thinking either the driver or the crossover is faulty or damaged. Anyone had similar problems to this?
I have only read very positive posts on this forum about the Zx5.
cheers, Pip

I've read many of the posts about the value of a stereo mix for IEMs over mono. I was wondering what you thought of a mixed approach advocated by Hear Technologies. In this case there is one stereo mix shared by everyone, (the FOH mix essentially), and up to 6 additional mono mixes. The mono mixes can be blended into the stereo mix the the listeners taste. (In the HT mixer, the 6 mono mixes can be ganged for a mix of mono and stereo additional mixes.) What do you think of this approach? How would it compare to true individual stereo mixes?

Nothing Better To Do |

I've started getting gigs where I have headroom
Until a few weeks ago, to get enough volume for the bands/promoters, I've had run my desk with everything one light below the red, because the funds weren't there on the promoter's behalf to get enough rig for the gig.
But I've just been booked for a few months worth of gigs with a theatre company where they are making lots of money and doing venues with enough PA, or hiring it in.
I can run the desk in the green with enough headroom for the screams and loud bits without resorting to heavy limiting, and there is a new found dynamic to the sound.
I'll need to make as much use of this freedom as I can.

Hello All,
Been doing a little research on the LAB and wanted to know who has McCauley SM72 loudspeakers and am using them as wedges? How are they performing. I looked into the wedge shootout a from a couple years back and they seemed to perform favorably but would like to hear from some people that use them day in day out as wedges. It also seems that these boxes would be a nice addition as multipurpose boxes due to their switchable biamp/passive operation as well as pole mount. Also, does anyone know retail and street of these boxes? I look forward to hearing from you guys.
Thanks
Hal Harrison

Mac please move this to where you feel appropriate, but how about a new section under the Basement called "Silent microphones". In the ham radio world we have a thing called a "Silent key", for as you guessed, deceased members of the society. A seperate section may eliminate duplicate posts and place the names of those now gone in an area of respect where they belong. Just a thought.

Hi all,
I rocked up to do a setup for a gig this morning with a jurassic phonic desk which didn't have phantom.
I knew I had to run a signal from a laptop to the desk and I figured I'd use an ARX AV-DI (from an external non-ARX supplied power pack).
The only problem was while i was setting everything up I realised despite having a wide variety of different power pack connections I didn't have the one that fitted this ARX AV-DI.
I was wondering if anyone happens to know the exact type / measurement of the power pack connector for this unit ... as it's really starting to bug me.
Thanks for your assistance.
All the best.
Cheers,
Tony Crouch

hi all.
a while back i purchased a audio technica AE6100 and i have to say out of all the dynamics ive tried (which is quite a few now) it was the clearest, cleanest ive heard. it just seemed to project a true vocal tone that sounded like my voice but just louder.
i noticed it didnt seem quite as powerfull/punchy as some dynamics i have but i thought this was down to the fact that it was more condenser like I.E. clear and clean as supposed to a more compressed/punchy sound that most dynamics give, however i did notice that at higher vocal pitches say tenor A, B, C it sounded like it lost alot of sonic ´´power`` for want of a better word. it just didnt sound as full compared to other mics there.anyone else come across this with the AE6100?
at first i thought it was just how the mic was but then when i unscrewed the grill and looked inside i noticed the foam inside didnt fit properly and part of it was possibly touching the side of the capsule. i got replacement foam from A-T but that didnt fit properlt either.( i have since looked in other AE6100 s and they dont have this probelem. i mailed A-T about this and they said that this foam problem would not effect the mics frequency responce or sound. i cant help thinking they could be wrong?
i ended up selling the mic on but i would really like to check this mic out again but dont want to waste my money and be dissapointed if the same thing happens.
does this sound like a fault/ possible foam problem or is it just how the mic sounds?
cheers,
Robert

Thanks

I picked up the older style one of these at a local college yard sale for $5 so I thought I would give it a try.
http://www.soundadviceblog.com/?p=430
My laptop with XPpro found it with no problems. I disabled the sound card in my laptop and loaded smaart. Smaart found it and the levels were easy to set.

The response was +0.2 db's from 250hz to about 12k or so. The phase was also not too bad as you can see. 0 delay time from input/output. S/N was around -80db with my laptop on battery.
-60db with my ac adaptor plugged in. This -60db was caused by spikes at 60/120/240. If your looking for a inexpensive external sound card input for combat audio this may be a good USB input. I see them on ebay in the $12 to $25 range.

I had an RCF speaker go down at a gig back on August 7. It's still under warranty so I called them the next day for an RMA number. Just getting this number takes a couple of days of faxing back and forth. After receiving the number I immediately sent the ART cabinet to their only repair facility which is in NJ. I've been without the speaker for over a month now and it still hasn't been looked at by the tech.
Is this a common to wait this amount of time? i don't mean to whine but as much as i like the product, I don't think I'd buy another RCF speaker. And from now on I will consider servicing availability before making purchases.
