Seems the incoming administration has become aware of the trainwreck-in-waiting that is the DTV rollout. In addition to pissing off millions of constituents, the 700Mhz auction barely made its reserve, and the public safety agencies interoperability challenges are still unresolved.
Keith Mallison in the January 2009 Wireless Week doubts the viabilty of comingling RF spectrum with licensed & unlicensed devices ala White Space Devices + Wireless mics. So now we have both sides of this debate agreeing that more thought & development is needed.
The only person championing a headlong rush seems to be Chairman Martin, who'll no doubt follow his "public service" career with a fat lobbying job in the cell/wireless industry. It almost makes one cynical...

| Stereo Pair of AKG D-12E for sale. [message #393895] |

I have a matched stereo pair of AKG D12E Microphones for sale. I really hate to sell them but due to an unexpected dying of my car these have to go. They both work fine and will only sell them as a pair because of them being a stereo pair. They had been used in a studio all their life until I got them last year and I hadn't had a chance more than to test them out when I bought them.
They come with the original mic clips. Since I've had them they have lived in mic bags in my mic box well protected.
I am asking $700 for the pair. I've been watching them for awhile on e-bay and online in general for awhile and have been seeing them go for much more than that.
If you are interested in these please e-mail me at mrsoundman813@gmail.com
Thanks,
Karl

Hello,
I have a Mackie SR*32 up for sale.
It is in good functional condition with the exception of problems with 5 channels. I tested each channel input to the stereo buss. I have not tested aux sends, groups, etc.
3 channels have dirty trim pots, 1 channel has low output to the stereo buss, and 1 channel has no output.
It is in fair physical condition. Lots of tape residue. Asking $475 + shipping. You are also welcome to pick it up in Orlando.
For pictures check out pictures at my craigslist listing:

OK, I found a great deal on a Sennheiser ew172 g2 instrument wireless system, and it comes with an extra headset mic.
I already have a wireless headset system so I don't really need another one, but my son plays drums and could use a headset mic, which of course will not need to be wireless.
Can these mics be adapted to be hard-wired to a mixing board input, without using Sennheiser's MZA900-P? I had sent an email to Sennheiser USA support and received the following reply regarding the MZA900P:
"This adapter regulates the phantom power the mic needs down to an acceptable level so there is no damage to the mic element."
Is this adapter a requirement, or a recommendation? If it's required, I'd be better off selling the extra headset mic and buying some other headset mic rather than spending the $130+ (!!!) or so for the MZA900P.
Has anyone run these mics with a simple adapter instead of this expensive one for any length of time, or is it a bad idea?

I think the Delta Array deserves it's own Topic because many people I work with would like to be able to use it. I am talking about the Delta Subwoofer Array described by Rog Mogale on page 15 of his Practical Guide To Bass Arrays.
http://www.voidaudio.com/pdf/bass%20guide.pdf
My question is, How is the displacement between boxes calculated?
Rog writes, "Do not be tempted to move the rear facing enclosures in a Delta Array forwards so they align with the front enclosures. Doing this destroys the arrays directional properties even if the delay times are changed... The array has directional properties only when the three elements form a triangle."
I tried to recreate this array in MappOnlinePro using 700-HPs, but the best configuration was not a triangle form, it was a line. See prediction below.
Rog says that his predictions are done with "122 cm high x 61 cm wide x 76 cm deep... double 18" reflex enclosure." But aren't 700-HPs similar enough to achieve similar results (117 cm x 57 cm x 76 cm, double 18" drivers)? What key information am I missing? Is the 'bass reflex' characteristic dominating?

Does anybody know of any "Green" certification that is relevant to the AV Design/Integration industry? I am interested in pursuing some type of certification that allows me to certify systems as "Green". Are there any A/V manufacturers that are certifying their products as green? I have looked into LEED certification but this only seems relevant to complete building certification. I do AV Design mainly for Corporate and Commercial installation's. Most of these are new buildings but some are retools of existing systems.
Is LEED the only way to go?
