I'm headed to China on Wednesday, and I'd like make a scene to save to a jump drive before I head out of town. Does anybody have a M7 in Nashville that I could work with on Monday or Tuesday?
The band is doing rehearsals at SIR Monday and Tuesday, but I don't think they have one there.
ps I've heard that when you load a jump drive on a M7 it overrides any scenes in the console, it that true?
Thanks,
Matt

Yes it Overrides..
Unless you use a laptop with Studio Manager to drop a scene in..
Do a search for that subject..
When you arrive in China you could just save the current scene in the board beforehand and reload it after your show..

Hey Matt
Soundcheck Nashville just added like 4-5 new rehearsal rooms in the past six months and I believe the original plan was for at least one of them to have some yamaha digitals in there. Worth a call. Soundcheck also has an in-house company called Digital Console Rentals, Inc. run by a guy named Howard Jones. In the middle of the week he might have an M7 in the shop.
If you have a little budget and want to rent one, feel free to contact me. I live in Nashville as well and can probably help you track one down.
Good Luck

why don't you just build your show in studio manager while on the plane?

You can make the scene in studio manager without the console. Just make sure to save it as a console files (.m7) instead of a YSM or YSE file.

This is true, and generally works very well because you can load your preferences and UDKs, and not just your scene.
The one "exception" is that the copy buffer will not be overwritten when you load from a card. So you can copy an output EQ, load the USB key and then paste that EQ back into the outputs of your scene. I believe this works with a whole scene as well, but I've only tried the output EQs.

It does indeed work with a scene. Typically when someone wants to load their key on our desk, I will ask them to do this trick, and most didn't know it was possible. It's very nice when there are multiple bands with engineers who each have their own key, as most guys only have one scene they need for the show.
Always make sure someone has backed up their important stuff from a console before loading your key though, nothing like finding out your scene you saved after soundcheck is GONE right before showtime.
Hope this helps,
Don
