I will not be purchasing or recommending any Shure product for any application until you take your hunk of dogshit excuse for RF PGX series off of the market. I am sick and tired of dealing with it. I realize you're only trying to compete with the other dogshit excuses for RF in the same price range, but, in my opinion, your PGX series has completely ruined your once good name. Slapping the "Shure" name on a chinese made hunk of dogshit does not make said hunk of dogshit suck less.
The PGX series is a pain in the ass to use, it has this horrid distortion/compression to it, gain before feedback is about 5 db, and the backup singers that are using the Sennheisers cut right through the mix and walk all over the lead vocalist using a PGX.
Sennheiser and Audio Technica thank you. While you continue to wallow in mediocrity, they have developed far superior units that only cost a few more dollars, and even kick your top of the lines' butt. The real musicians are catching on, and they are ditching your products in favor of the afformentioned units.
I will not rest until the PGX series resides only in karaoke bars and DJ rigs.
Sincerely,
Michael Strickland

Great "letter"! A nearly identical one could've/should've been composed to JBL ten years ago, when they were slapping their logo on those wretched TR-series boxes.

It really is unfortunate what happens to a lot of these companies. Most of the Harman companies have 'budget' lines now that just don't do justice to the reputations of the previously independent companies.
That said, it's such a nice treat to see companies that really are interested in developing better products, and not just MORE products.
I do agree about Shure. I'm using their equipment less and less. I used to be a devoted Shure man.

I thought it was common knowledge that PGX = crap. I think Shure knows this too which is why they market them to bar bands and others without means to buy good mics.

Everyone has the means to buy a good mic. Have a low budget? Forget wireless. It's that simple, really.

I will be the contrarian.
a) You know that the PGX series is shite, so why buy it?
b) Shure makes the PGX series because they figure, why cede that income to a Behringer? They know that the pro users won't buy that stuff but they realize that the low-end user wants the product. Give the people what they want.
c) The quality of the PGX products has no bearing on the quality of their pro stuff. The SM58 isn't any less of a product because of the existence of the PGX series.
IOW, you doth protest too much.

So what you are really saying is, a budget mic is not as good of quality as one that costs 10 times more. And you're not able to figure that out?
I hate to be harsh but the number of "yeah I agree" responses to this post is kinda scary. I can't believe that this is on the LAB.

Remember that it is easy to make something cheaper, just make it worse. If you need quality for your gigs then I guess you should aim a little (or a lot) higher.
I can say with some certainty that this was an activity quite unknown in Iowa!

Agreed,
but, I've been in the position,(not Shure) many times where it wasn't my purchasing decision and the sub-par equipment was supplied to me. There was nothing I could do to not make a tough job, from coming off sounding poorly. Equipment not working.... OUR Fault,Band's performance terrible.... Our Fault, Poor choices of Equipment..... still, we get the Blame, whether it's our equipment or not.
Many people may disagree with Michael or his method of venting,(although we've all complained about some piece of equipment), In my opinion he may have a legitimate reason to complain, although the rest of us may have handled it differently.
Maybe he got the Blame!
Shure could expand their Market share by finding other Products to Manufacture, without delving into the low quality niches.
Cheers,
Hammer
Be prepared, you'll need it!
