I have been looking for one for my light board also. I am finding the best solution seems to be a DJ case meant for a double CD player. They are about 8 spaces on top generally but you could use a blank panel for filler. You could leave the top few spaces open even so that you can access the plugs or leave your first DMX cable hooked up and stored right in the case. They are usually small and light, and have a slanted top.
I am the luckiest man in the world because I'm married to the most wonderful woman in the world!!

That DJ case is good (8 over 2) but still too big for just a controller.
The best choice I see so far is the SKB X-rack 4space. Just stand it up on the rear when in use. I plan to hard mount the wall wart internally and have line cord extension and XLR exit only when in use!
Any other suggestions out there...

I've run into this issue 6 months ago and couldn't find an off the shelf solution. I use 2 4u controllers (High End LCDs) and a power condition. I perfer a 30-45 degree angle on the boards. For the short term, I just built a plywood box and carpeted it. Does the job and super cheap. Plus I can keep rebuilding it for every show depending on how many controllers I use (up to 4 controllers and down to 1)
