As someone said, you may be able to get it done with a car battery and an AC invertor. For the past several years, I have done sound on a float in a parade. Using a two pairs of powered speakers, a mixer, an EQ, several microphones, and a CD deck, it has run flawlessly for four hours continuously. (I have always kept a spare car battery as a safety backup, never have needed it) The AC invertors at auto supplier stores are rated via watts, so you would need to do some calculations to see if that is feasible for you.
Nice thing about it on a float is no gennie noise/gasoline fumes, etc. YMMV

It needs to be rack mount.
|
that's gonna be one big BIG rack
Does this set-up really require the ability to supply a 20 amp draw for 20 minutes?? Or does it just have to handle an intermittent heavy draw? What kind of program material are you talking about? You'll need to figure all this out.
you could use:
1. Batteries and inverter.
2. Quiet generator.
3. Fuel cell.
4. Magic beans.

Yeah,
I know it's a weird request, but it's not bullshit.
College marching band. It is for stadiums, some of them 50,000 plus people. They play only to one side, however.
Our company provides the audio for the home games, a lot of PA (turbosound aspects and qsc wideline). We tie into a panel box for electrical.
They are looking for something for their away games. They know that there is no way they will be able to do anything like what we do for them.
They are looking for a 10 percent increase above what they have, not looking to perfectly cover 60,000 people or anything.
For away games, there is no guarantee that they will be able to have even 1 20amp circuit all to themselves, but this rig should be able to run on that since it is not at 2 ohms and not doing anything below 70hz.
It is for soloist - sometimes big deal guest artists (trumpeters, sax, etc) as well as for their midi percussion rigs (http://www.alternatemode.com/malletkat.shtml) So I don't have to have subs, but I do have to be able to pull some low frequency from time to time, and very percussive low frequency.
I am figuring this isn't possible without a generator or 3k of equipment. That's fine. I just need to let them know that I checked into it.
Anyone have any further ideas?
Thanks!
Jason
