Electrical inspector decided to make a stop by my house gig today. Took a look at the Source Four PARs I have and told me I can't use them any more.
They're UL listed, obviously. But these lights came from the US. He says that they would have to be ULC listed (or CE I would assume... this info came through the club owner). Naturally this bothers me since the lights are clearly perfectly safe.
Is there any way around this? I'm pretty sure the lights in Canada and US are exactly the same. Can I get ETC to send me the stickers? Is there anyone with a copy of the CEC that can check this out? Maybe something about temporary installations? I know there is some stuff about using SJ instead of SO in temporary installs if they're rigged, etc.
Any advice??
Thanks!

Just an update... got a little more info from the boss, and although they're not CUL listed, and just UL, it's the CSA rating they're worried about.
Any insight?
I will most definitely email ETC and find out what's up.

My partner has a little card he keeps in his wallet.
This card is produced by either Ontario Hydro, or by CSA.
It has ALL the inspection labels which are acceptable in Canada.
I am sure that UL is among them.
One problem in Ontario (I was told, so this may not be totally accurate) is the fact that all the separate regional electrical inspection offices had the majority of their funding taken away, and are now responsible for generating a lot of their own funding. This has led to the kind of problem you're having. The inspectors name their own rate for inspecting and "stickering" anything that plugs into mains power.
Took a break after the last paragraph to poke around online at the CSA website. Was unable to find the chart, but did find this....
http://www.csa.ca/standards/Endorsed_Standards_March_2008.pd f
...which basically says UL is acceptable for use in Canada.
I'll try get that card from my partner and scan the sucker, then post it here.

Sorry, the attachment above is NOT the page I thought it was, but it does hold some useful info.
I'll try find the other page later, no time at the moment.

No prob, Duncan.
Here's another page I found. Still looking for something other, but this may help.

Only problem is it's a New Brunswick thing, and I haven't yet scanned it too closely to see if it applies to all of Canada, but hey, it's a start.
They sure don't make it easy to track down this information.
