Nothing Better To Do

Has anyone used the new Mackie Tetrad speakers? Just out of curiosity. It seems like an interesting and somewhat practical design. The subs have 4 10" drivers and the tops have 4 8" drivers and a large horn. How do they sound? What have you used them for?

Well Evan I used the search function and came up with very little and certainly no in-depth opinions or reviews. So I'll bump this thread in hopes of hearing something other than Mackie hate mail death threats! Like you I think it looks like a good idea and they would probably work well with one of their 808S powered mixers for small bar band stuff. A lot of my work could be done with that type of rig - mic the kick and vocals and let everything else blast off the stage.

I guess not many people have used them, they are fairly new but also not all that expensive and an intersting design. I guess i thought more people would jump on them but that "mackie" logo seems to scare them off....Doesnt bother me i have used mackie for many years with lots of success.

Sorry I should have been more specific. Not much has been reviewed on this site however I do recall reading a few user reviews elsewhere on the net, but that was so long ago I don't recall where. You can probably google a bit and find some.

If I remember correctly there were some comments about them sounding a bit thin, and for the price there were better alternatives. The sub specs are not impressive at all. I have yet to actually see one in the wild.

You can probably find something better and cheaper from Yorkville, and you'll get a much better warranty. I am not totally anti-mackie, BTW.

Newbie

I listened to them at a local dealer alone and with a pair of the JBL MRX series subs and thought they sounded pretty good for the money with the subs. Alone was a different story.
