Got a call this AM from a church I assist with their sound needs. It seems they were having a problem with the wireless headset I had helped them set up (Shure SLX w/E6). No voice, just white noise.
They had tried resynching the transmitter/receiver pair to no avail. Long story short.....I unplug the wire from the earpiece and plug it back in. Problem gone.
I know that long-term static connections sometimes need to be cleaned. This is a very small, gold-plated connector. What actually are the likely causes of loss of signal through a connector? Any way to lessen the frequency of occurence?
I post this here as install seems to be more appropriate due to the long-term nature of the system setup.

Ivan....
Yes, I did the wiggle test before and after solving the problem. It just seems that the reseating protocol is something that I need to apply periodically to systems which are supposedly "permanently" set up. Oh, well...... at least it works now and no $$$$ out for parts.

I'd hit the mic connector (and maybe every other connector in your system) with DeOxit about every 3 months.
Start with the E6. It only takes a little squirt and cycling the connector a couple of times to help prevent those "it only happened once" problems.
Spring is the worst season for dirty connections.
DeOxit is the WD-40 for audio.
