Hi Chris,

Your unit ships back today. There was a drink spilled into it which is not covered under warranty. Luckily, damage wasn't as bad as usual for this problem. After a disassemble, complete wash, rinse, blow dry, style plus replacing 4 damaged parts, all is back to normal.

This kind of thing (drink spills) typically takes a bit longer since the liquid tends to get everywhere, thus many pieces need cleaning and dis- & re-assembly. Time consuming. The long term corrosion possibilities are not insignificant so we're thorough. Compare this to a typical repair where there's usually only a single piece and a part or two to fix - speedy comparatively.

Hi,
Thanks for helping me with this repair. I am astonished that there was a drink spliled into the unit. I looked at it rather closely when I shipped it but I must have been wrong. As is the norm- NO DRINKS ALLOWED- on the desk is enforced but not well enough. I stand corrected since if I knew some bozo spilled a drink into this or any piece of gear I wouldn't have made a stink about it. I never intended it to get this exagerated but I sincerely appreciate your and everyone's insight. It looks as though I have a VM from RANE.

Hey Chris,kind of late seeing this thread but I'm just curiouse what club this mixer is installed in in San Jose cuzz I live in San Jose. I only knew of one place with an MP 44 which is Johnny V's. Is that it? Just curiouse.

Hi,
Actually there isn't an MP44 at Johnnie V's- it's a RANE Mojo model installed in the movable DJ rig (I installed balanced runs to the front of the bar and to the stage for different set up needs). I know this as I installed (and matain) both the live & DJ systems there since he is a great friend of ours here at the Blank Club (right around the corner from J V's). The Blank Club is where I put the MP44 into our DJ booth.
On the MP44 note: I thank the family at RANE for doing a great job on fixing our mixer! I didn't realise that a drink had been spilled into it- had I known that I wouldn't have posted the rather ugly message. I received it today (via over night air mail) and it sounds great.
I'd like to thank Steve (Rane) for his assistance on this matter (and all others as well who contributed to this post).
Also I'd like to thank ProSoundWeb (and its Administers) for make this the best resource!

I'll pile on the kudos for Rane's service: I have an RPM88 in a mission-critical application and they fixed it, and upgraded the cooling fan and firmware for free, same day. (It helps that I'm in Seattle and could drop it off and pick it up.)

I recommended a MP44 for a club install I did in santa barbara, I'm a non-DJ sound guy who could give a rat's ass about a DJ mixer, but after looking over the piece I highly recommend it. I do alot of corporate and fashion-show live audio work that the MP-44 would be a more useable piece of gear than the standard small live audio console. It also makes a great playback submix board for a large format desk. All the DJ's I work with (put up with Smile

use that damn Pioneer -sounds like crap! Give me a 19" Rane anyday.

Anyways, to make a long story short, That club in SB had someone dump a citrus cocktail into it and I had the owner RA and ship it. Rane did really good and had that thing back with no nonsense and very quick. Kudos to Rane, good product.

Yeah, the MP44 is a great mixer. I've installed about seven of them. I just did an install here in NYC where I had the faceplate gold plated.

Maybee they switched it back out to the old Mojo for some reason but I know they had a MP44 there for a while because I was trying to set up a night there (which never panned out)and Johnny showed me the new booth with the MP44. I should also mention the reason I'm positive it was an MP44 is that I own one, I also happen to own one of the 4 channell Rane Mojo MM8Z's so I am aware of the differences. I know there was a MP44 upstairs when he redid the dj booth, but again this was about 3 years ago so maybee they took it out, plus I haven't been there in about 2 and a half years.

Just so I'm clear here about my first post (and the outcome of this issue) regarding the RANE Service issue: I have no problem with RANE- its Gear or its Service, etc., ! I have and always will be a solid happy user of their gear. I can honestly say that I was very impressed and happy with the personal help I received from Rane and its Staff. The oversight (see my first post) was on my part- not theirs. I thank Steve and everyone for taking care of us (and working with the likes of me).
