I just want to know who on here is a fan of the Countryman E6 headworn mic and who isn't?
Just about everybody I talk to about a headworn mic says get a countryman.. Well I've been on a tour for a couple of months now where 2 guys have the E6, and 2 other guys have the Shure Beta53, and the Shure blows the Countryman away soundwise.
In my opinion the Shure is about 10 times better.. Is it just my situation? I seem to be the only one who doesn't like Countryman.

I can't speak to that particular situation, but so what if you're the only one that doesn't like the E6? If the Shure works for you and your clients are happy, and you're gettin' chicks (okay, 2 outta 3 ain't never bad.... ), then so what?
I developed the mindset a long that I didn't care if I was the only guy on the planet to use a particular piece of gear, if I liked it and it worked, so be it. But all the while, keeping an open mind about it.

In my case the E6/E6i is an "upgrade" vs. a lav for speaking & short-term theatrical-style events where greater GBF is required.

I have some gigs where I am using up to 10 headsets at once on stage. We use the E6 99% of the time. There are some cases where the DPA is used because of it's tight fit. It has gotten to the point where most national speakers are just expecting the E6 cause it's what their use to. I'm just glad that lapel mics are no longer an option. Believe it or not, I have had someone request the lapel... I just said no. (Lapels work for a broadcast feed, but not live sound)

There is a optional band for the e6 now that makes it go around the back of your head. Seems to work well, but I've only had it a couple weeks. Although I dig the mics, what I don't like about the DPA is the price of the adapters to go from their microdot to whatever wireless system you happen to be using. $87 list to use a TA4F seems a little excessive- Too bad having a soldering iron in my hands is so dangerous : )
