Should Get Out More

It may be a little late to have any influence on the class topics.. But I'm interested in everything that has been mentioned so far..

One thing I would love to spend a little bit of time on is compression. Everytime I use compression I pretty much set the attack and release to "auto". I've messed around with the knobs a little bit but I can't seem to hear enough difference to completely understand when to use what setting..

Also, I hear about people who like to compress the crap out of everything, sometimes 2 or 3 times.. They compress the input channel, the subgroup, and the mix output.. why? or why not?

I have a feeling i'll be the youngest most inexperienced guy at this class, but I can't wait. I'm stuck in a rut.

Dan,

I'm seriously considering attending, so I might be right there with you in the young and relatively inexperienced group.

An important thing to understand is that the people attending this presumably never want to stop learning, regardless of their experience. While a certain level of knowledge and experience is expected coming in, I hope this would be an environment supportive of students at many different levels.

Regarding the topics, all of the ones mentioned so far are of interest to me. In particular, a discussion on system tuning techniques would be most useful to me as I believe it is one of the more complex topics.
